Shelley hoping for better result in Severn Valley rally

Burton and Rogerson on the recent Plains rallyLancaster‘s Shelley Rogerson is hoping to put the problems suffered on the recent Plains rally behind her next weekend (30th May) when she contests the Severn Valley National rally with Andrew Burton in his Peugeot Cosworth.

Their last event ended in disappointment when the gearbox broke towards the end of the rally, losing them a potential victory. The car has since been repaired and it contested last weekend’s Epynt hillclimb event with Burton‘s son Josh at the wheel.

The Severn Valley National rally is a round of the MSA Gravel Rally Championship but with Burton and Rogerson not being registered for points this year their aim is to complete the 62 stage miles with no problems.

“After the gearbox breakage on the Plains we’re hoping for a troublefree run this time,” said Shelley.

“We want to make sure that the car is as reliable as possible for the remainder of the BTRDA championship which we are competing in this year.”

“We won the event last year and it’d be great to repeat that result but the main priority is getting to the finish. I’d like to thank Co-ordSport, Nicky Grist, Gilletts Spar and Songasport for their support.”

The rally is based in Builth Wells and features seven competitive stages in forests such as Crychan and Radnor. For more information on the event please visit www.severnvalleynational.co.uk.
