Jade Paveley breaks new ground and wins at first attempt
The Mewla Rally over the Mid Wales Epynt military ranges was took place over the August bank holiday weekend in mixed weather conditions and saw the GroupB Motorsport rally driver win yet another award.
The 22 year old North Wales Honda Sales executive drove the GroupB Motorsport prepared Subaru Impreza to a first in class award over the very fast and demanding military test ground roads. The infamous venue well known for catching out many famous names by the nature of the multiple blind crests that hide tight corners again proved the ability of the North Wales based driver as tackling the event for the first time, and on pace notes for the first time netted a prestigious class award.
The Ravanol lubricants, North Wales Honda sponsored car literally flew over the many crests, while many crews retired stuck off the road or even literally up in the trees! “This was my biggest rally challenge yet” commented Jade, “I was in safe hands with Kenny Owen as my co-driver who has vast experience of this event. I have never had to work this hard on a motorsport event before. If you relaxed for 1 second you would be off the road. We actually maxed out in 6th gear a few times, which on these roads was pretty crazy, you can’t compare this to the racing I have done were you can see an apex and plan you exit lines. Epynt is just all blind and you rely on your pace notes, which I wrote for the first time, the day before.”
Jade is now planning more rallies during 2015 after a significant upgrade to the Subaru Impreza by GroupB Motorsport earlier this year. “After my first top 10 finish in the first part of the year we took the decision to miss some rallies and upgrade the car, which has worked out very well, the team at GroupB have tuned the Subaru into a really fast car, with improved handling and more to come from the new suspension, so I am really keen to get some good results before the end of the season, so well done to Rich, Sills, Owen and Graham for turning out a great car, this first in class is down to GroupB motorsports hard work”.
Cracking result, FairPlay. 😊🍾
