Donkervoort wins Sport Auto High Performance Days in Hockenheim

The first half of 2016 has been fabulous for Donkervoort, from the first delivery of the D8 GTO-S and the tremendously enthusiastically received sneak preview of the D8 GTO-RS, which is expected out later this year. The focus was not exclusively on the new models, though: the demonstration cars for the existing D8 GTO have not been stuck in their stables these past few weeks. From visits to exhibitions like the Techno Classica Essen and Top Marques Monaco to super tests on the German Sachsenring (AutoBild Sportscars) and the Austrian Wachauring (PS Das Motor Magazin), the D8 GTO could be seen strutting its stuff at many locations throughout Europe. To wrap up this memorable half year, Donkervoort competed in at Sport Auto High Performance Days in Germany over the Easter weekend. And what a finish! During this well-attended event at the famous Hockenheimring, Donkervoort Customer Racing took a fabulous and admirable first place.
Donkervoort Customer Racing
Donkervoort Customer Racing – a division of Donkervoort Racing aimed at supporting and ‘training’ Donkervoort drivers with racing ambitions – took three D8 GTOs to the famous Hockenheimring in Germany last weekend to compete in the High Performance Days organised by German car magazine Sport Auto.
After a smart fourth place in the qualification, the Donkervoort D8 GTO Bilster Berg Edition driven by Denis Donkervoort fought its way through the final race on Sunday—beginning with a reversed-grid start (fastest qualifying time at the back, slowest in front) followed by a fierce battle with competing cars, including a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup and a Viper ACR with a whopping 850 hp—to achieve victory!
After the race Denis Donkervoort said, “It’s fantastic to see that the GTO in a fully street legal version can compete with pure race machines such as the Porsche and Viper. That makes the kick when you pass the finish line first all the greater and once again proves the speed and potential of this car on the track!”
Donkervoort expands again by authorising new Service Point in France
Donkervoort also continues its expansion in Europe. After announcing that the company will be opening a brand new location of its own in Germany in early 2017, Donkervoort is now also expanding its network to France this year through a new partnership. Exigence Service, located near the city of Orléans, an hour’s drive from Paris, will be accredited as official Donkervoort Service Point from June 2016. With this move Donkervoort looks to expand further in the French market, where the brand has been active since 1987, and hopes to provide existing Donkervoort customers in this country even better service and support, including for homologation.
As Donkervoort Service Point, Exigence Service will provide maintenance and service for Donkervoorts. Obviously, all these activities are carried out in close cooperation with and with support from Donkervoort Automobielen.
“The passion for Donkervoort, along with the technical- and service-related knowledge and skill at Exigence Service, gave us the confidence to pursue this partnership. We are very happy about this expansion of our service network and look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration,” said Denis Donkervoort.
